The Scenic Route

Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies comprises a vast wilderness area of Alberta province defined by glaciers, lakes and peaks like 11,033 ft. high Mount Edith Cavell. The Icefields Parkway, a road from the town of Jasper, passes subalpine forest and the immense Columbia Icefield. Outdoor activities like hiking, camping and skiing are popular. Native wildlife includes elk, moose, bighorn sheep and bears.

Jasper National Park to Dawson Creek, BC (Mile ‘0’ of the Alaska Highway) is approximately 524 km. Highway AB 16, AB 40 N and AB 43 W then connects with Highway BC 2 at the British Columbia and Alberta border.

Grande Prairie

Make the Visitor Information Centre your first stop,  located in Centre 2000 on the Highway 43 Bypass at 106 Street.  Come plan your visit and discover the many attractions and events in this vibrant, growing community!

Grande Cache

Nestled on a mountain plateau at (4200 ft.), the Town of Grande Cache is surrounded by panoramic views of 21 mountain peaks and 2 river valleys. This small mountain town is adjacent to the unspoiled Willmore Wilderness Park. There’s something for everyone; photographers, artists, hikers, bikers, paddlers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, fishermen and hunters alike.
